Goals for Aberdeen School District 2006-2007

Goal 1: Restructure ESL and implement various research-based techniques to improve English acquisition.

Strategic Plan Improvement Objectives that will be utilized:

5.2.10 Improve teacher training in Standards, Reading Fluency, and academic improvement of LEP students.
5.3.1 Improve student achievement on all State assessments to meet or exceed State goals determined for making adequate yearly progress.
5.3.6 Increase the number and percent of minority students who plan to attend college.

Goal 2: Create an effective Distance Learning program or Collaborate with others to offer higher levels of learning for students and community.

Strategic Plan Improvement Objectives that will be utilized:

1. Increase the number and percent of minority students who plan to attend college.

2. Establish more opportunity to learn for every type of learner.

3. Provide a variety of classes in various disciplines.

Goal 3: Create a professional development plan for teacher effectiveness and utilize it.

1. Establish a District staff development plan linked to the strategic plan, curriculum alignment and assessment, technology integration, and best practices.

2. Improve teacher training in Standards, Reading Fluency, and academic improvement of LEP students.

3. Establish Across Grade Level Teaming and staff development system.

Goal 4: Create a multi-year maintenance plan.
